The diagram and photos will help you to work out exactly where to measure. Record your measurements in the measurement form provided. The more care you take with the measurements, the better your custom-made boots will fit. If you're not sure about taking the measurements, give us a call. We're happy to help.

Step 1 – Tracing your foot

Get someone to trace an outline of your foot onto a piece of paper.
You need to be standing, with your leg as straight as possible. The tracer needs to make sure that he or she is holding the pen straight – otherwise the outline might be bigger or smaller than your foot.

You only need to measure one foot. If there is variation in size or shape (for example if your feet differ by half a size), give us the measurements for the bigger foot. If there is a big variation, contact us by email or phone and we can take the measurements for both feet.

*You do not need to email us this tracing - it is just for your reference.*

a) From the traced outline of your foot, measure the line from the top of the big toe to the back of the heel (see diagram).

Use a tape measure to make the following measurements. The tape measure should be held a little loosely (not tightly) around your foot or leg.

Step 2 – Foot measurements

b) Measure all the way around your foot at its widest point — from the base of the little toe across the foot to the big toe knuckle, then around the sole of the foot.

c) Measure around your foot at its highest point — midway between the toes and the ankle, and around the arch of the foot.

d) Measure from the back of your heel, up around the top of your foot where it meets your ankle, then back around in a circle to the back of your heel.

Step 3 – Calf measurements

For the calf measurements you should ask someone to help because you need to stand up and have your leg straight. It may help if they mark your leg with a pen at the various measurement points.

e) Measure the length from the side of your heel (at ground level), up your calf, to where you would like the top of the boots to come (ie below your knee for knee-length boots, lower down for shorter boots).

f) Measure around your calf at the ‘top of boot’ point.

g) Measure around your calf 5 cm below the top of boot point, and then every 5 cm going down your leg towards your ankle. The final measurement should be around the ankle, making sure that the tape measure goes over the ankle bone. As a guide - if your boots are 40 cm high, there should be at least five calf measurements between the top of boot measurement and the ankle measurement.

Please let us know by email or phone if there are any special requirements for your boots. For example, you might need a higher (built up) sole on one boot.
